June 2017

The Painters’ Club Semi-Annual Challenge was held at the May meeting – and we had a wonderful wide selection and varied interpretations of our subject: “SHOES”! It was a great Challenge -- Thank you!! Margot Comer (our Program Chair), for your imaginative and fun subject! It was great to see the entries – and if you are not a member of the Painters’ Club, or were not able to attend the Challenge, you haven’t missed it! The participants are hanging their shoes in the Spotlight Gallery of the Art League of Lincoln (ALL), which is located at 580 6th Street in downtown Lincoln for the month of June. Hours are Wed-Sat, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Besides our “Shoe Show” in June, the Main Gallery will be presenting a show called “Pure Imagination” featuring art made from recycled, vintage, and found objects that have been repurposed “to tickle your eyes”! There will be a reception on June 3, 5-6:30 p.m. and it is open to the public. The artists will be in attendance from the Pure Imagination show, as well as many of the artists whose shoes are hanging. Come enjoy both presentations and see work from the creative minds of Lincoln. .

The June meeting will be our Spring Luncheon – this year it will be a picnic lunch on the patio. We’ll also have plein air discussions to keep our minds busy. If you are a club member and have ever wondered about Plein Air – this is the luncheon for you. Bring your sketch books, the location is beautiful, and sketching IS the first step of Plein Air. Deadline to sign-up will be June 15th, but don’t wait til the last minute, we might not have room!

If you are not a member, but are interested in taking part, join up and come! We have a new membership contact, Barbara Iniguez (see info below).
