LH PAINTERS CLUB
by Alice Horst
It’s a thrill for an artist to see their work on display and July saw the openings to two new Lincoln Hills Painters Club shows. The first at Buonarotti’s Ristorante will remain through August and the second is in the lobby of Orchard Creek Lodge through the end of July. Both shows reflect the diversity of our members’ creativity.
The work going into the planning, receiving entries, mounting displays and taking down these shows has to run like clockwork and thanks to our behind-the-scenes volunteers, they seem to appear by magic. We are fortunate to have such engaged & dedicated members.
Our August 15 meeting at 2 p.m. in the Fine Arts Room in the Orchard Creek Lodge will offer something unique. Sacramento artist Steve Memering will provide critique of club members’ works. This will be such a wonderful opportunity to get helpful advice to improve our own art from a versatile & accomplished painter.
In September a portrait demonstration by Frank Ordaz, offers a chance to watch as a skilled artist shares his talent, experience and insights.
October will feature Cynthia Chalmers, a retired UC Davis Art Professor, with a presentation of how line is used in painting.
November will be our semi-annual members’ “Challenge” and trust our program director to come up with another unique project…a 2 dimensional picture … think “flat” like textile pattern or wallpaper design.
Quite an exceptional line-up of educational & inspiring programs!
